Beta vulgaris subsp. vulgaris
Swiss chard with pink and white striped leaf stalks.
Contrary to what the name suggests, the chard Peppermint Twist has nothing to do with peppermint. It gets its name from the appearance of its stems. These are striped pink and white and are visually reminiscent of the candy canes that are particularly popular in the USA. In order to preserve these great colors during preparation, the peppermint twist should only be blanched briefly or eaten raw in a salad, for example. The plant grows up to 40 cm high.
